    Hamra Farm

    Ever since the early days, Hamra Farm has been DeLaval’s most important source of inspiration. It has enabled us to develop new ways of producing high-quality milk and create a model farm with the best cows, conditions, and verktyg.     The farm has around milking cows in three different barns. The average milk yield per cow per year is approximately 12, litres. The farm consists of 3, hectares of nation, whereof 1, hectares fryst vatten arable nation. Today, Hamra Farm has four focus areas, 1) to be a demonstration farm for customers globally, 2) to facilitate research and development of DeLaval products and systems, 3) to pursue education and work as a training centre for our DeLaval employees globally, and 4) to be a profitable dairy farm.

    DeLaval is a producer of dairy and farming machinery, with a head office in Tumba, Sweden, and is part of the Tetra Laval group. The company has 18 factories worldwide, employs over 4, people.

    History

    From the s Gustaf de Laval (–) developed machines for the dairy industry, including the first centrifugal milk-creamseparator and early milking machines. His first separator was patented in , and his first milking machine in From the early s, De Laval's cream separator, was promoted internationally. For example, the London-based Dairy Supply Co presented the cream separator at the Dairy Show in London.[1]

    In , DeLaval and Oscar Lamm founded Aktiebolaget Separator (abbreviated to AB Separator) in Stockholm, Sweden. In the first year the company built 53 milk separators, of which 37 were exported.

    In in the US the company founded the De Laval Cream Separator Co. as a subsidiary,[3][4] with a sales office in New York and production facility in Poughkeepsie, New York. Another company that Gustaf de Laval founded in the United States in was the De Laval Steam Turbine Company in Trenton.&

    DeLaval International AB är ett svenskt företag som har sitt ursprung i AB Separator, ett företag som grundades för att exploatera Gustaf de Lavals uppfinning separatorn från , som används för att skilja grädde från mjölk. Företaget har sitt huvudkontor i Tumba i Botkyrka kommun,[1] där även testgården Hamra gård ligger.[2]

    Företaget ingår numera i Tetra Laval-koncernen. Huvudsaklig inriktning på produktionen är utrustning till mjölkproduktion. DeLaval är världsledande av tillverkning till mjölkstallar, de har en dominerande ställning på flera marknader i världen. Företaget har tidigare varit en del av Alfa Laval.

    Företaget har satsat mycket på att utveckla robotmjölkning, vilket innebär att korna blir automatiskt mjölkade i en speciell maskin kallad Voluntary Milking System (VMS).
